Bridges are used to replace a missing tooth.
They are supported by the teeth on either side of the missing tooth.
Like many cosmetic dental procedures, placing a bridge also serves a restorative purpose.
A bridge will improve your smile as well as your ability to chew and speak.
In a recent study published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, bridges were shown to dramatically
reduce the risk of losing the teeth that are adjacent to a missing tooth.
They can also help keep your jaw and face from changing shape.
This can happen when teeth are missing.
Installing a dental bridge is typically completed in two visits. First,
your dentist will determine if you are a good candidate for a bridge. If
you are, your teeth will need to be prepared by re-shaping or
re-constructing any badly decayed or damaged areas. Afterward, your
dentist will take an impression of your teeth and send it to a lab where
it is cast into a mold. You will be given a temporary bridge to wear. On
your second visit, this mold will be fitted to your teeth, and any
necessary corrections or adjustments will be made on that same visit.
Dental bridges can last from 8 to 15 years and can last even longer if
you maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly.
When you have a tooth that is cracked, chipped, or worn down, we can restore it to its original look.
Crowns differ from such things as fillings or veneers in that they cover
every visible part of the tooth. They not only help restore a tooth’s
original shape and size but also provide support and protection. Also
referred to as caps, they build on what is already present, resulting in
a natural-looking, strong tooth.
Before we place a crown on your tooth, we make sure that it and the area
around it are as healthy as possible. Cosmetic repair and enhancement
should go hand-in-hand with treatment for healthy teeth and gums.
Implants are significantly stronger than bridges or dentures.
A dental implant offers an excellent solution to a lost tooth.
The implant is integrated into your jaw with a small titanium screw and over the course of several months naturally
bonds with your bone.
This procedure is relatively simple and is effective in almost all cases.
